6 Classic Hindi Film Songs Shot At The Iconic RK Studio, Which Is Being Sold Off Due To Losses

On Sunday, Rishi Kapoor, in an interview with senior journalist Khalid Mohamed, exposed that the Kapoor family members is promoting off the iconic RK Studio, one particular of the oldest film studios in Mumbai, located in the Jap suburb of Chembur.

It is learnt that mounting losses and the reluctance of filmmakers to shoot in Chembur (the Mumbai film industry largely operates in the western suburbs), led to the complicated final decision.

“The expense in rebuilding the studio would just not have yielded enough income to maintain it going. Even just before the hearth, for yrs, RK Studio experienced turn into a huge white elephant, toting up losses. The couple of bookings we would get from movies, Television serials and advert shoots would assume no cost parking place, air-conditioning and bargains,” Kapoor said.

Set up in 1948 by Raj Kapoor, a year after India’s independence, RK Studio witnessed the filming of a number of vintage movies (Barsaat, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Bobby).

In September past year, a main hearth gutted Phase 1 of the 4-acre studio, which claims to have, at 120 ft x 80 ft., a single of the greatest capturing floors in Asia.

Valuable movie memorabilia, this sort of as the mask that Raj Kapoor wore in Mera Naam Joker, was missing to the fire. Following the incident, the studio has struggled to stay afloat. Like Kapoor stated in the interview, “It is just not constantly possible for a phoenix to rise from the ashes.”

Here are just some of the lots of legendary songs that have been filmed at the studio:

Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua — Shree 420

Jeena Yahan, Marna Yahan — Mera Naam Joker

Om Shaanti Om — Karz

Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh Mud Mud Ke — Shree 420

Tere Bina Aag Yeh Chandni — Awara

Key Shayar To Nahi — Bobby
